Sponsorship and Advertising Policies

As the Senior Resource Alliance, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, our mission is to provide our website visitors with the most current, accurate and reliable information online as possible addressing the needs and issues of the middle and later years. To help us with our mission, the Senior Resource Alliance (SRA) offers a limited range of advertising opportunities from banner ads to sponsorships. Advertising and sponsorship revenue is used to support SRA's services and online programs.

The following policies explain the types of advertising that we accept on our site and the limitations that we impose on sponsorship and advertising. We emphasize the importance that we and our users are able to easily differentiate between advertising and independent, editorial content on our site. We've adapted from acceptable industry standards sponsorship and advertising policies which explain our approach to ensure that the advertising seen on our site has no influence on the quality, accuracy or selection of editorial content and services that we provide to our users. When we speak of advertising we mean all forms of advertising, sponsorships and promotions for which we receive any form of compensation, as in charitable contribution, advertising, in-kind and other related compensation.

Important note: We do not accept certain kinds of advertisements or sponsorships. The presence of an ad on our site or in SRA, our enewsletter or other communication, does not imply endorsement of the advertised company or product. SRA retains final approval of all sponsor/product messages, banners and advertising copy that are directly linked or adjacent to the content. This includes verification of advertisement content and placement before it is produced on the site.

Specific Policies:

  • We will not provide personally identifiable information about our users to advertisers. Please refer to our Privacy Policy
  • All advertising on the SRA portal will be clearly identified as advertising and must include the name of advertiser or the product advertised
  • All creatives must be approved by SRA prior to launch.
  • We do not endorse products, services or companies. Therefore, advertisers and sponsors must not make unsubstantiated health or other claims or suggest that SRA has endorsed a product.
  • Pop ups or interstitials will NOT be accepted or provided. All ads and sponsorships must conform to our requirements.

Any appearance of advertisements or sponsorships is not a guarantee of those products, services or the companies that manufacture, distribute or promote such products or services. The fact that certain products and services are advertised on our site is not an endorsement of those products and services and does not influence the editorial content on our site. We usually require that any advertiser or sponsor have at least one year of business operation history before we consider the entity or organization as a potential sponsor or advertiser, although we may accept new start-ups who show promise and provide appropriate references.

SRA follows IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) web advertising standards, when appropriate:

We require identifying all advertising:

  • We've established guidelines on how we label advertising and sponsorships, based on industry standards, so that you'll know what an advertisement or sponsorship is and what is editorial content. We use clear and consistent language and visual cues to distinguish advertising from editorial content. You will see the following descriptors on our site for different types of advertising:
    • “Advertisement” is used to label the most common form of advertising on our site. The content of this format of advertising is controlled by the advertiser. Ads are labeled with the word “Advertisement” in the top left-hand or right-hand corner or along the left-hand or right-hand side of the advertisement. If you click on an advertisement, it will usually link to a website that's operated by the advertiser. We have no control over the advertiser's website or the policies on that site. You should familiarize yourself with the terms of use, privacy policies or other policies applicable to those sites before using them.
    • Sponsored by” is used to label content when an advertiser has paid for association with an article or service, but the content or service is not editorially controlled or influenced by the advertiser. We identify this kind of advertising by clearly showing that the content or service is “Sponsored by” the advertiser or organization.
