Volunteer Senior Advocates
The Senior Advocacy Program is a coalition of volunteers. They speak with a strong voice for Central Florida
seniors. And they increase public awareness about older adults' contributions and needs.
What do senior advocates do?
Senior advocates meet with elected officials to promote a better quality of life for elder Floridians.
They also:
- Speak publicly
- Write letters
- Talk on the telephone
- Help with office tasks
Who can be a senior advocate?
Anyone living in Brevard, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties can volunteer. Members want a strong voice
in decisions affecting elders. Volunteers receive grassroots-advocacy training. They learn how to successfully educate leaders about senior issues. Senior advocates spend four to eight hours each month volunteering. They work with other people to improve older
adults' quality of life.
