Driver Safety Program
The Driver Safety Program of the Senior Resource Alliance:
- Community education for professionals and consumer groups
- Driver skill assessment-fee-based screening or skill testing
- Mobility counseling including transportation alternatives
Community Education and Outreach
Our staff can speak, free of charge, to senior groups and professionals about issues relating to older drivers.
SRA also sponsors DriveWell, a toolkit of resources for professionals, community planners and senior advocates.
Codeveloped by the American Society on Aging and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,
DriveWell helps volunteer instructors to conduct community outreach sessions with seniors, their family
members and interested citizens. For more information on DriveWell, contact
www.nhtsa.gov.
Driver Skills Assessments
SRA offers driver skills testing using the DriveABLE tool.
Based on the results of the assessment, we may refer drivers to a doctor or occupational therapist to
rebuild skills. We may advise some drivers to retire from driving. We offer several interest-free payment plans and accept VISA or MasterCard.
For more information or to schedule an assessment:
Please contact SRA at 407-514-1819 for more information and fees for the program or by email
Mobility Counseling
Mobility counseling means developing a plan for using other modes of transportation when driving
is no longer an option. We also help you or a loved one make decisions about when to retire from
driving. There is no fee for this service.
Driver Safety Classes:
Driver safety classes are for experienced drivers. Any Florida driver, age 55 years or older, who completes an
approved course will receive a three-year insurance discount. Typically, companies grant a 10 percent or greater
discount, upon receiving proof of course completion.
